Window & Door Installation in Northridge, CA | GN Builders
New windows and doors do more than improve your home’s appearance — they reduce energy bills, improve security, block outside noise, and increase resale value. GN Builders installs windows and doors for homeowners throughout Northridge and the San Fernando Valley, handling everything from single replacements to full home window and door upgrades.
As a licensed general contractor, we manage the complete project — framing, installation, finishing, and trim — so you work with one team from start to finish.
Window Installation Services
Window Replacement
Replacing old, drafty, or single-pane windows is one of the highest-ROI home improvements in Southern California. We remove your existing windows, inspect the framing, and install new energy-efficient units with a weathertight seal and proper flashing.
New Window Installation
Adding a window where none existed requires framing a new opening, which may involve structural work. Our licensed team handles cutting the opening, installing a header, and completing interior and exterior finishes to match your home.
Egress Window Installation
Building codes require egress windows in bedrooms — especially in ADUs and converted spaces. We install code-compliant egress windows with proper sizing and operation requirements.
Bay & Bow Windows
Bay and bow windows add square footage visually, bring in more light, and create a focal point for any room. We frame and install these multi-panel projection windows with interior sill finishing.
Sliding & Picture Windows
Large sliding windows and fixed picture windows maximize views and natural light. Popular for living rooms and great rooms throughout the San Fernando Valley.
Door Installation Services
Entry Door Replacement
Your front door is your home’s first impression — and a major security and energy factor. We install solid wood, fiberglass, and steel entry doors with proper weatherstripping, threshold sealing, and hardware of your choice.
Sliding Glass Doors
Sliding glass doors connect your interior to a patio or backyard seamlessly. We install standard and wide-format sliding doors with multi-point locking systems and low-E glass for energy efficiency.
French Doors
French doors add elegance and light to living rooms, bedrooms, and patio openings. We install interior and exterior French doors, including those with sidelights.
Bifold & Pocket Doors
Space-saving bifold and pocket doors are ideal for closets, laundry rooms, and open-concept layouts. We install and frame these doors with proper track hardware for smooth, reliable operation.
Garage Door Installation
We install new garage doors and openers — standard, carriage-style, and modern aluminum designs. Proper installation ensures balance, seal, and long-term operation.
Interior Door Replacement
Upgrading hollow-core doors to solid-core improves sound insulation and gives your home a higher-end feel. We replace and rehang interior doors throughout your home.
Why Choose GN Builders?
Licensed & Permitted — License #1134674. Window and door work that involves structural framing requires permits. We handle all permit applications and inspections.
Proper Flashing & Weatherproofing — The most common window failure is water intrusion from improper flashing — not the window itself. Our installations include correct flashing, caulking, and trim detail so your windows perform for decades.
Interior & Exterior Finishing — We don’t just set the frame and leave. We complete interior casing, exterior trim, and stucco patching so your new windows and doors look like they belong.
One Contractor for the Full Scope — Need windows as part of a home addition, ADU, or renovation? We manage windows and doors alongside all other trades under one contract.
Free Estimates — We measure every opening, assess framing conditions, and provide a detailed written quote at no charge.

Frequently Asked Questions — Windows & Doors
Do I need a permit to replace windows in Los Angeles?
Like-for-like window replacements in the same opening typically don’t require a permit in LA. Creating a new opening or changing the size of an existing one does require a permit. GN Builders determines what’s needed and handles the process.
How long does window replacement take?
Most window replacement projects take 1–3 days depending on the number of windows. A full home of 15–20 windows is typically completed in 2–4 days.
My windows have condensation between the panes — can they be repaired?
Condensation between panes means the sealed unit has failed and argon gas has escaped. The glass unit can be replaced without replacing the entire frame in some cases — we’ll assess your specific windows and give you the most cost-effective option.
What’s better — fiberglass or vinyl windows?
Both are excellent for Southern California. Vinyl is more affordable and widely available. Fiberglass is stronger, more dimensionally stable in extreme temperatures, and can be painted. We’ll recommend based on your budget and performance priorities.
Can you install a door where there’s currently a window, or vice versa?
Yes, but it requires structural framing work — potentially including a new or modified header. This is exactly the kind of project our licensed contractor team handles. We assess the wall structure and provide a complete scope of work.
